the complete solution
MREL’s Defence & Security Products Department offers the EOD/IEDD community a unique and complete neutralization capability using one pourable explosive that is not actually classified as an explosive until it is easily mixed by the Bomb Technician when required. This allows for ease of sourcing, procuring, storage, loading and transport of EOD/IEDD tools. Operationally, the time-to-target is reduced significantly when compared to retrieving explosives from off-site storage magazines. Training is reduced, because all of MREL’s tools are compartmentalized and simply “pour-until-full” to load as opposed to the extensive training required to become competent on the loading of traditional disrupters with the various types and weights, shapes and sizes of traditional non-pourable explosives. Savings in disrupter tool preparation training time can be directed to other areas including threat recognition and render safe procedures.
MREL’s patented FIXOR™ Binary Explosive is used around the globe for the destruction of landmines and unexploded ordnance. In addition, it also forms the core for the entire line of AquaRam™ Tactical Disrupters and EZCore™ Tactical Disrupters. These tactical disrupters provide Bomb Technicians with a complete and comprehensive solution to almost all IED threats from small packages through to very large vehicles.
Extensive research and instrumented testing has been directed to the characterization of each of MREL’s tactical disrupters, determining the capabilities and limitations of each in detail. The criteria of design and successful live testing for all MREL’s tactical disrupters are:
• Defeat the circuitry.
• Expel the contents of the device.
• Minimize collateral damage.
• Minimize the debris field.
MREL’s tactical disrupters can not only penetrate the vehicle’s barrier material but still have sufficient energy to interact with the device and defeat the circuitry while expelling the load. In addition to being effective render safe tools, the controlled disruption characteristics of MREL’s tactical disrupters assist in the post disruption evidence gathering and exploitation.
MREL has not only focused on understanding the effects on target of each disrupter but also the ability to deploy that countermeasure safely and effectively downrange and position the disrupter at the determined attack height and angle. MREL offers a full range of accessories that minimize the number of tools required to perform the maximum number of tasks faster, safer and cheaper.
This website provides descriptions of the products offered by MREL’s Defence and Security Products Department. It does not contain sensitive information on render safe procedures (RSPs). MREL has developed the Disrupter to Threat Ratio System (DTRS) which matches MREL’s tactical disrupters to threats. The DTRS is useful to a Bomb Squad Commander when conducting a capability gap analysis because it allows him/her to design an IED countermeasure disrupter suite for the squads based on the outcome of the analysis. Operationally, the Bomb Technician can select his/her threat on the DTRS and then see which one or more of MREL’s tactical disrupters are required to neutralize the threat. The DTRS is a quick reference system allowing the Bomb Technician to quickly choose an IED countermeasure, raising the percentage of success on any given RSP and allows the Bomb Technician to predict the outcome of a positive action with confidence. If a copy of the DTRS is of interest to you, please contact MREL.
