ROYAL NETHERLANDS ARMY CHOOSES FIXOR™
The Defence & Security Products Department is pleased to announce that MREL has received a significant contract from the Netherlands Ministry of Defence to deliver MREL's FIXOR™ Binary Explosive to the Royal Netherlands Army in support of their Toolbox of Mineclearing Equipment. FIXOR™ is utilized to destroy landmines and unexploded ordnance in many countries around the world including: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, D.R. Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nicaragua, Rwanda, Somaliland, Thailand, and Zambia.

MREL'S CUSTOMER WINS: CONGRATULATIONS TO SNC-TEC ON BEING A CO-WINNER OF THE FIFTH NIMIC IM AWARD
The Explosives Technical Services Team extends congratulations to SNC-TEC for being a co-receipient of NATO's Insensitive Munitions Information Centre (NIMIC) Fifth NIMIC IM Award which is awarded to individuals or teams who have made an important contribution to progress in the area of IM Research or Engineering. As detailed in the excerpt of the NIMIC Newsletter, the SNC-TEC Team worked on development and manufacture of the HTPB-based castcured HBU-88B formulation for 120 mm mortar and 120 mm tank ammunition. MREL is proud to have provided SNC-TEC MIL-STD 2105C IM tests in support of this successful 120 mm program. Congratulations SNC-TEC!

MINES ADVISORY GROUP IN CAMBODIA RE-LOADS WITH FIXOR™
Team FIXOR™ is pleased to announce that MREL is providing additional quantities of FIXOR™ to the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) Cambodia with assistance from the Mine Action Team of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. MAG is one of the six founding Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, which coordinates the efforts of more than 1,300 associations in over 70 countries. The International Campaign was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1997. MAG's programme in Cambodia started in 1992 and now employs 480 Cambodian civilians, including over 70 women deminers and over 50 amputee deminers.

NEW PRODUCT: PORTABLE WIRELESS TRIGGER
The Blasting Instrumentation Team is pleased to release pre-production information on its latest product, the Portable Wireless Trigger (PWT). The PWT will make the task of recording blasts with high-speed video or film safer and much easier for the blaster and researcher. It will be demonstrated at the forthcoming International Society of Explosives Engineers Conference in Nashville. The PWT is currently undergoing final pre-production testing. Production is scheduled for January 2003 with shipping to commence in February 2003.

The Blaster's PCICam is a fully integrated high-speed digital video camera system hosted by a rugged portable computer. PHASE 1 COMPLETE: 120 MM M934A1E1 HE MORTAR CARTRIDGE IM TESTING PROGRAM
The Explosives Technical Services Team is pleased to announce the completion of the first Phase of a multi-phase Insensitive Munitions (IM) Testing Program in support of the U.S. Army's 120 MM M934A1E1 HE Mortar Cartridge Insensitive Munitions Enhancement Program. Under contract to a Prime Contractor to ARDEC, the Explosives Technical Services Team utilized MREL's Explosives R&D/T&E Facility to successfully conduct a variety of explosive characterization tests and MIL-STD 2105B IM tests, on time and within budget. NEW MICROTRAP ADVANCED ANALYTICAL SOFTWARE VERSION 5.0
The Blasting Instrumentation Team is pleased to announce that all MicroTrap Customers will be receiving a complimentary CD containing Version 5.0 of the MicroTrap Advanced Analytical Software. Along with some performance enhancements, Version 5.0 supports MREL's new VOD PROBECABLE "green" and VOD PROBECABLE-LR "blue" products. As with all MREL VOD/Data Recorders, there is no limit on the number of computers on which the MicroTrap Advanced Analytical Software can be installed. Unlike some other non-MREL VOD recorders, there are no "dongles" attached to the computer's printer port and MREL never charges additional fees for installing the software on additional computers. FIXOR™ TO BE UTILIZED BY THAILAND MINE ACTION CENTER
Team FIXOR™ is pleased to announce that MREL is providing FIXOR™ and associated demolition accessories to the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC) under a purchase agreement with the Canadian International Demining Corps and with assistance from the Mine Action Team of the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. In Thailand, TMAC is a focal point for Humanitarian Mine Action under the authority of the National Mine Action Committee chaired by the Prime Minister of Thailand. TMAC's mandate includes the location, marking, identification, removal and destruction of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
